Does anyone know the correct way to change a fuel filter on a 97 GT and where exactly it is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It is in between the rearend and the gas tank (look up on the other side of the gas tank). It takes only a screwdriver and safety glasses. Just pry the clips out and replace it easy but you will get gas on you, so beware.

Make sure to bleed the pressure out of the system before you remove the fuel filter. There should be a shraeder valve on/near the fuel rail- it looks like the air valve on a bike tire. You can use a pen and a rag to push down on the valve and fuel will come out, this should take most of the pressure out of the system. Make sure you've got rags for when you disconnect the filter as well because like S281 #39B said, it will pee on you. When you go back to start the car after you're done, the system will re-pressurize and you can check for leaks. Careful with the plastic clips that hold the filter in, they're easy to break.

1998 up uses a different fuel filter and attaching hardware that is not the same as the plastic clips used on 1997 back fuel filters. 1998 up requires a "siscores" like tool to release the retaining clips for the fuel filter.
