Fuel Filter Question

What is a good replacement Fuel Filter for my 2001 Mustang Bullitt? And Where can i get a replacement?

I would stick with the Ford Motorcraft replacement but, that is just me.

I just finished mine,went with motorcraft.

Motorcraft... You will need a spring lock release tool and you will need to depressurize the fuel system first.

you can depresure the system by pushing in the schrader valve on the fuel rail. or you can wait awile after you shut the car off then do it without depresurizing

I just pulled the fuel pump fuse while the engine was running to release any pressure.

you guys can do that.. but i have never released the fuel presure on any fuel filter i have done.. and as long as it was shut off for 15 minutes or so it was fine.

if you pull the line right after you shut it off you will get sprayed. no matter what you do some fuel will come out

gas will just shoot out of the line once you remove it. no biggie, just be ready for it.

Wal-Mart has it. I think you can get them for less than $12 at about any parts store.

I just installed a Purolator filter on my GT that I picked up at AutoZone (Motorcraft was out of stock). I also picked up the spring release tool while I was there which made the install a breeze. I pulled the fuel pump fuse and ran the car for a few minutes, not till it stalled but just to relieve the pressure. Only had a few ounces of fuel spill out.

what i do is open the trunk with the car running and give the kill switch sensor a good whack with a ratchet. after about 10 seconds the car dies on its own. that generally releives all the pressure becasue the kill switch turns off the fuel pump in case of an accident. once i change the filter, i push the button back in and the car starts fine.
