fuel injectors, where to buy, how big, installation?

I have a 93 notchback with about 425hp. I currently have 24lb. injectors but my plugs are burning really lean, do I need to go with a bigger injector and who should I buy them from. Also, what is intailed in replacing them? thanks, Jim

If you're Naturally Aspirated, you're right at the limit of 24 lb'ers...if you've got forced induction and/or Nitrous, you should have 30's. Check it out here....

Also, Injectors are a snap to install dude, just give 'em a little tug and they generally should come right out...pretty much "plug n play." As for where to buy them, i'd say check www.summitracing.com (on a side note, I bet the electric people at www.summit.com get a lot of hits from people trying to get to summitracing.com..I usually forget it the "racing" at the end...). Also, when you get new injectors, be sure to have your MAF recalibrated...

You dont need to disconnect the fuel lines either.....I have never had mine disconnected. I bought the tool do it from autozone and broke both sides of it, does anyone know how that tool works anyway???

Get fordracing injectors...and I would personally go with the 36lbers...

I've been lookin' around the web to find the best prices on 30# injectors. I found a set at Gene Evens Ford (GEFRacing) down in Georgia. for $199.99. Summit wanted $219.00 for the same ones. Look in the A/C repair section for the fuel line tools. They look like little plastic top hats. You will need the 1/2" & 5/8" ones. The hat shaped section goes on facing the large part of the coupling. Then you press hard on the brim until it forces the sleeve into the coupling and releases the spring. You may need someone to pull on the line while you press on the coupling. Put some motor oil on them when you put the line back together.

Fuel injector seal kits with 2 O rings and a pintle cap (Borg-Warner P/N 274081) are available at Pep Boys auto parts. Cost is about $2.74 per kit. The pintle caps fit either injectors with a pin sticking out the injector end or 4 with more tiny holes in the injector end. Most of the links above have store locators for find a store in your area.

Use motor oil on the O rings when you re-assemble them & everything will slide into place. The gasoline will wash away any excess oil that gets in the wrong places and it will burn up in the combustion chamber.

i think he is right....i have a set for sale,under 10kmiles & they'r in perfect shape. make me an offer..

36lbers for better fuel pressure...42's if you want to go ahead and get rid of your FMU..if you even have it....

Whoa.... 42lbers.....???? For naturally aspirated??? Granted I'm not a guru in this area, but off hand that sounds pretty big! The 36lb injectors I can get with, I have 30lb ones now with 422 HP, and I have to admit I'm thinking of going to 36..... Never thought of 42 though. Can you provide some logic to back up that size of injector choice????
