I recently had my gas tank out and everything removed to have my sump installed. After I got everything sealed up, the level doesn't read. My sending unit is only about a year old and the gauge works when grounded. I also have a proper ground on the sending unit when checking it to chassis. Is there anything I could have screwed up on reinstall? I did have to squeeze the unit together to get it through the opening, could I have broken something?

Bent, maybe. If it were broken, it wouldn't operate at all.

The sending unit doesnt read the level. It reads 78ish ohms too. That is basically sitting on the bottom of the tank right? Our gauges read 73-30 ohms or something like that right?

Try disconnecting the plug from the sender and grounding it. If the gauge goes to "F", then you need to pull the sender.
