I had the hardest time after i replaced my fuel system... I ended up using a hand pump and bringing the fuel straight up to the fuel pump... after a few cranks the engine started right up. Try that.

Can you do this at the carb fiting or do you have to do it before the fuel line meets the pump ?

Good question, not really sure why you would need to do this though.

Missed the point, didn't you?

Guess I did...wErD. Hey, I'm gettin' old.

Good luck on the midterms.

Uh, a bilge pump is designed to pump water - not gas. How do you know that the gas won't just melt it OR (worse yet) it might just emit a spark and cause a fire.

Bad idea.

This hand pump is used with gas on my boat they are needed beacuse the engine sits higher then the tank so pumping it would get it up there with out the fuel pump working hard.

I checked all the lines and they seem good no leaks at all as soon as i get a new starter i will try to run it, it arrives monday.

Thanks for all the help....

Ok i just got my enigne working the other day with starter fulid beacuse the fuel pump is not sucking the fuel out of the tank.. my qestion is that do i need to have feul in the line before I have it pump or is it supose to suck it out its self I ran it for about 5 min but there is no fuel comming out?

Umm...I thought excessive use of starting fluid was harmful.

How did you determine that no fuel was coming out? Disconnect the coil, then disconnect the fuel line before the filter and run it into a suitable clear container (plastic soda bottle works well). Turn engine over and look for fuel.

If fuel comes out, you have old bad gas in your tank and it's clogging your filter.

If no gas comes out, pull the hose from the sending unit on the gas tank. If you have enough gas in the tank and the sending unit is not clogged, the gas will pour freely as soon as the hose is removed (so be careful if you do this).

If gas comes out of the tank, now you know its either the pump or the lines.
