I'm just trying to figure out what kind of mounting I should do with a new 2 5/8 ultralite fuel pressure gauge ( I only have the gauge right now) and what I will need to do it. As far as mounting it, what would you guys recommend:

A) an in the car with an isolator set, such as on the dash, or on the a pillar (not sure if you can put a gauge this big on the a pillar)

B) a setup on the cowl of the car. I think this would be cheaper and less of a pita, and kinda leaning this way.

Either way, could anyone direct me to some good deals, or give me some insight into the way they did or would do a setup?

Thanks a lot

I kinda like that look, or maybe the one from Cowl Gauge Concepts. Where can you buy the lines to attach, or does anyone know what I will need?

A mechanical gauge needs to be outside the passenger compartment. A leak and a spark could seriously roast you.

Fuel pressure gauges that use an electrical pressure sender are what you should use inside the car.

Fuel pressure hose adapter fittings to replace the schrader valve fitting on the fuel injector pressure line. The schrader valve is located near the alternator on the fuel injector pressure feed line.

Or
See http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessorieslist.aspx?pid=10

You can buy the Autometer Stainless Steel braided hose for like $60. Or a local shop that makes hydraulic hose assemblies can make it for you at a cheaper price. Ordinary low pressure hydraulic hose can be used in place of the Stainless Steel braided hose, the Stainless Steel braided hose just looks nice. I got mine for $4 at a place that sells industrial and military surplus parts of all kinds. The Stainless Steel braided hose goes for about $3.60 a foot and the fittings are probably about $5-$8 each. You can make your own and save some $$$, the shops may have a setup or labor charge to fabricate the hose assembly.

So for the mechanical gauge I have I should use the 17945NOS part, correct, which goes from the shrader valve location, correct?, which connects to the braided line, which then connects to the gauge, am I right?

That depends on if your gauge has an AN flare fitting on it or a pipe thread.

I have the aftermarket cowling that has a molded hole for the gauge. It looks awesome, it's very visable from inside the car and the cowling looks great painted to match the car and bolted right in.

Oooops! Sorry - I meant to add that the pics are not of my car....they are from the Cowl Gauge Concepts website.

mine is mounted like Mustang5L5s and vision is not great but I don't monitor it like the other guages anyway. Wiper blades might obstruct that 2-piece cowl too.

I'm still up in the air on how I want to do it. i like the cgc one, but am still looking for other options. Where did you get your pods, Mustang5L5 or TMOSS?

I also saw a write-up on it somewhere on how to do it, but I can't remember where, in which they just had a pod that kind of strapped onto the cowl area or attached somehow to it.
