Fuel pressure source other than schrader valve?

Hello all. I put a Novi 2000 on my 89 Mustang, and the intake elbow for it contacts the schrader valve in the fuel line and puts pressure on it all the time. I used to have the sender for my electric Auto Meter fuel pressure gauge on the valve, but there is NO room for it now. Anybody got any ideas of how to tap into the pressure line without getting a different AFPR (have a kirban one for now) that has a port just for it? If there aren't any other ways to tap into it well, which AFPR with gauge port should I get? I've seen aeromotive, bbk, and I believe mallory makes one for the foxes...that I'm not sure of. I've heard of problems with all of those brands. Anybody have experience with them? Thanks.

why not just use a 1/8" (think its 1/8) T fitting so you can hook both to the schrader valve

if you really want to swap FPR's then yeah, the BBK one has a spare port for that (and yes it is 1/8 npt), but why not try the t-fitting approach? probably a little cheaper

accufab makes a nice reg as well with the fuel port. you can also try looking for a fuel rail that is from an '86 302. it has the schrafer valve next to the regulator

There is nothing else that needs to be hooked to my schrader valve besides the gauge sender. It's physically impossible for it to be there though, because the intake tube going into the supercharger's head unit is right up against it. There's not even enough room for a 90 degree fitting.

jerryD: I might have to keep an eye out for one of those '86 fuel rails. I didn't know they had their schrader in a different spot. Is everything else on them the same as the 87-93, so it would be a bolt in thing?

check ebay once in a while for em, they come up once in a while. it is a direct bolt in. the schrader valve placement is the only difference from the 87-93 rails.

I am having the same problem You could also do a T fitting at the FMU but I do not intend to keep my FMU.

The stock rail shrader port is a 1/16" NPT, you can re-bend the line (which I do a lot) to move it out of your way and/ or use a 1/16" fitting and then a 90 degree or 45 degree fitting to get it out of the way.

Ya know, I never thought about tapping into the FMU line. I'll be getting rid of mine in the future too, but that'll be when I have the money for it. Good idea.

Rick: I'll look into bending the line some and see if it's something I want to do. I'm gonna look at my kirban afpr and see if I can just drill it out and tap it for a gauge port myself first.

Thats what I did.


If you look close I made a bracket that holds the gauge where you can read it easily. (located between the plug wires) I used a 90 and a small peice of braided hoses. You can see the hose loop around the valve cover filler neck.

That's god idea. Not to hijack, but it looks like that motor has polished gt-40 on it. Do you have a pic of the entire motor? Thanks.

Yes I do. Actually it's a Cobra intake.
