I just installed my kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator and it went really smooth. I had been waiting to install it until I got my fuel pressure gauge. Well When I had everything put back together I went to install the gauge and screwed it onto the schrader valve, but for some reason it would only read up to 20 psi, even when I adjusted the fuel pressure up all the way on the regulator (tightened clockwise until it stopped even). I need to know is there something wrong with my fuel pressure gauge or what? It is a Performance Fuel System gauge and it looks like the following:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD...001QQitemZ110192488315QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I used teflon tape to connect the 90degree attachment to both the adapter and the gauge and then screwed the gauge handtight onto the schrader valve, then turned it another 1/4 turn like the directions say.

Any ideas?

Test the gauge on an air line if you can. If the gauge works you either have a clog in your line or the regulator isn't working correctly.

Check pressure with another gauge if available.
Make sure that you don't have any teflon tape blocking the passages.
Maybe the schrader valve isn't getting depressed enough to pass full pressure.

Despite the what the ebay ad says, those gauges are made in South America (brazil if I remember right), not the USA. Unlike the Kirban fuel pressure regulators, which are generally reliable, these Kirban distributed (under the Performance Fuel Systems label) gauges are WILDLY unreliable.

I ordered one (exact same gauge) from Maximum Motorsports, it didn't work at all. I sent it back and they sent antother, it also didn't work at all. I called them again, and Maximum Motorsports said it used to be a reliable gauge, but the tooling or something had changed and ever since they had started to get a lot of recent returns. They refunded my money, and dropped the gauge entirely from their website and stockrooms.

It's a manufacturing defect.
