Hi,

I am fitting a new fuel pump on my 1969 351w Mustang ... i have removed the old one but cannot get the new one in place.... is there a little 'trick' to getting the arm into the correct position?

Cheers
Euge

Hand crank the engine over a little bit and try again. I guessing that the arm on the pump is hitting the eccentric.

answer

You can take a breaker bar and put it on the harmonic balancer bolt and simply turn right until the pump slides in easily and sits properly.

Or you can put the key in the ignition and crank it over just a split second.

If you have a manual trans, can't you put it in a high gear with the key off and roll the car a foot or so?
