i replaced my pump in oct. left me stranded at 180k :P

well fast forward to march car again left me stranded 1st thought was fuel pump again(installed an auto parts pump) but its all i had to work with 4hours from home

car dies, i let it sit for 1hr or so figure if the tfi is bad it will have cooled by then go back, car is still dead couldnt hear the pump running. get it towed next day it runs but not great. drop the tank replace the pump again get a nice sound from the pump car runs like a top, but now the car seems to be surging in power. now when the pump comes on when starting the car you can hear the hummm of the pump surge. im thinking that the tfi is indeed bad since it completes the fuel pump circuit? thinking its dropping the circuit intermittently so the pressure surges up and down

any other guess

Does it feel/sound like the engine is trying to shut off for a split second? If so, that can suggest a bad PIP. THe PIP is what keeps the pump running constantly while the car is operating. If the PIP is cutting out (even if for a split second), the pump can cut out too.
