Fuel pump test

Anyone know any ideas on how to test the fuel pump before just throwing money at parts to find the problem?


The car will turn over, but i cant hear the pump prime. No fuel pressure. I have my original CCRM and another one i had been using on the car. Neither change the situation.

Is there something i can jump on the eec test connector to make the fuel pump get power? I'd rather not waste time dropping the tank/buying a pump if it turns out to be the CCRM.

oh i've checked the inertia switch in the trunk and i will be checking the fuse under the hood tonight....

You can jump the FP at the self-test connector but it's better to check voltage at the fuel pump's electrical connector at the tank. If you have battery voltage there but no noise and no pressure, that indicates the pump went south. If so, try lightly kicking your tank to see if it wakes your pump up.

I'll have to drop the tank down to get to that right?

No need to drop the tank to test the pump. I believe the wiring runs to the tank through the trunk, though I'm not sure. So you should be able to test the wiring with the tank in place.

Yep. The electrical pigtail connector for the pump is kinda in front of the tank itself. You should be ablee to pull the harness down and test it at the connector.
