fuel sending unit

You know how there is a wire coming from the fuel sending unit that goes the fuel gauge?
Cause i connected the battery, and tried to check the voltage coming from the wire, and there is none, then i tried starting the car and still no voltage.
How does it work?

It works on resistance. You need to check it with an ohm meter.

oh ok, so one lead goes to the wire where would the other lead go to?

Ignition switch power -> Constant Voltage Unit (Blk/Grn) -> Fuel Gauge

Fuel Gauge (Yel/Wht) -> Fuel Sender Unit -> Ground
