I recently was losing a MASSIVE amount of fuel, so after some snooping I found that i was leaking at the fuel pump itself.

Instead of dealing with half new half old parts, I used this as an excuse to replace alot.

Newly installed:

Gas Tank, Fuel Pump, Gaskets, Fuel Filter, and Main feed lines both output and return line.

After driving the car for about a week, I put a full tank of gas in tonite, and made it about 20 mins on the freeway before I started smelling gas. I got home, and checked....

I'm leaking gas from the center of the tank (between the two straps) it's pouring out....

There is no gas from the passenger side of the car where the lines or pump is located.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas at all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the donut gasket for the filler neck. If that isn't seated right or if it's cracked then it will leak and run down the side of the tank and under the plastic cover. Especially with a full tank.

If it's not coming out of one of the very few openings in the tank, then the tank must be cracked/ruptured somewhere.

I'd check the fuel line connections on top to make sure its not leaking and dripping down the center between the humps on the top of the tank. Maybe try dropping the tank down a few inches to see the lines and then priming the pump to see if anythings coming out of that area?
