I need to replace my fuel pump on my 1995 Cobra. It has almost a full tank of gas. How can I drain the tank to lower the tank?

If the fuel pump is not dead/dead, I would disconnect the fuel rail in the engine bay, pinch a rubber hose onto it and jump the pump at the diagnostic connector into 5 gallon tanks until it's empty.

If the pump is totally dead, consider picking up a cheap electric pump from the parts store. I have removed the filter and slaved a pump into that location to pump a tank dry before too. Ensure you pickup fittings to mate the pump to the tank line.

And if not mechanically inclined then an old hand pump may work as well with a long enough hose.
Amazon and harbor freight has them for 10 bucks.

Great idea! I will buy a pump and try. Thanks so much. I was just going to drop the tank and worried about gas pouring out when I pull the filler neck out.

That works too but it generally sucks.

That's probably the better bet at this point. It seems like fuel pump prices have doubled, even the cheapies.
