I know troubleshooting over a forum is next to impossible...but here is my problem. I keep getting a "service engine soon" light...ive read the code a few times, and it keeps saying fuel rail pressure regulator. Its been changed twice now, and it still pops up so definatly not getting a bad part (i changed it once, and tune shop changed it once). If i drive the car normally, the code never gets thrown...it only pops up once i go WOT.

What other parts could effect this code? Also, just to make sure i clearify what part i replaced...its the black box on the drivers side of the fuel rail, bottom plugs into fuel rail, and 2 vacuum hoses on the sides.

Right now the only two things i can think of are either wiring or vacuum leak.

Well any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried just replacing your fuel filter? They are only good for 30k miles tops or 15k average.

is there another fuel filter besides the one in the tank? I just replaced the pump with a svt focus pump. Also the car only has 18k on it.

Yes there is one above the differential. It is placed there to maximize the chances of getting fuel in yer eye, try to avoid that

haha, well thanks for the tip

I'll try and post up tomorrow how the filter is.

I replaced the fuel filter. When i dumped out the fuel out of it, it seemed to flow normal. It did seem a bit harder to blow through than the new one, but i didnt think it was all that bad. BUT i do think it might have fixed my problem, service engine light hasnt come on again yet...

The code at autozone read something like fuel pressure regulator voltage too low. So having a somewhat clogged filter, it would make sense to have that code...but damn talk about a sensitive system.

Oh and one more thing....This is only temporary, but how bad is it to run the motorcraft synthetic oil in my procharger P-1SC? I took a look at the dipstick when i was doing the other work and found out that i had a bad oil leak from the plug...damn charger was almost bone dry. I have the correct oil on order, and will flush it before hand...i just hope this temporary fix doesnt screw things up worse than it already is.

I'm getting the correct oil on weds or thurs...i had to put the motorcraft oil for now because it was almost bone dry....i'd rather have the incorrect oil than no oil. I'm going to flush a bottle of the correct oil through first....just wanted to make sure i'm not going to harm anything with the wrong oil.

According to Autozone, the code P0190

"Troubleshooting P0190
The PCM has determined that during testing the reference voltage for the fuel rail pressure sensor was lower than its accebtable range."

so i thought i had this problem fixed. Thought the fuel filter was the culprit, but nope. I did a reset on the computer (pulled the battery for about a half hour) All of the gauges went to the far right then back to normal when turning the key forward. It seems as though if i reset the computer the code will go away for a few days, then pop back on again. Any ideas?

Check the voltage on the fuel pressure sensor. And check the fuel pressure and compare the two.

Here is the reference table

cool thanks. I just got the wiring diagram, but wasn't sure on the voltage levels.
