Fuse rating on my amps is too high for wiring kit...

I am using this Rockford wiring kit for my two amps: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WWQGFl...w.asp?g=128900&id=essential_info&i=575CP4DCKS

My amps are both Kickers, one KX350.4 for the components and one KX 400.1 for the sub. The combined fuse rating for both amps is 80. According to the info on crutchfield, I should go out and get new fuses for the distribution block because my total fuse rating exceeds 60 amps. Will it matter though, what could happen if I don't upgrade my fuses? Also, are there any brand fuses I should avoid? Thanks.

You need to match the fuse rating with the subs or have more fuse than necessary. If you dont have the correct fuses (too small of a fuse) I think you can catch your wiring on fire...

You're fine. If you blow the fuse, then change it with the higher value. Otherwise, it's sitting pretty.

you have that backwards. You dont want a overly high fuse rating value. fuses are meant to stop too MUCH current from coming through. Its much better to undervalue and have the <$1 fuse blow than overvalue and have to >$200 amp blow. to determine fuse rating, take amp wattage and divide by 12.

Actually, the fuse doesn't protect the amp in any way shape or form. The fuse is there to protect the wire itself. If the fuses start blowing, then there is either a short (cut in the insulation, touched ground) or the amp has ALREADY gone bad. The best idea is to match the fuse to the wire, provided you're running sufficient wire to your amplifiers. You'd be surprised how many people do not. Also, running undersized wire and not having an adequate ground path is the most common cause for headlight dimming.
