I emailed SLP about future products for mustangs and thought you all might be interested in their response (I emailed them on the weekend and had a response right away on Monday morning).

""Thank you for your interests in SLP Performance Parts and our Ford Mustang products.
SLP is currently working on our Headers and X-pipes as we speak (soon to be released) for the current model year. I'm sure SLP will have 2006 products similar to the 2005 Mustang (as long as Ford keeps life easy as carry over components, even so we will have products available).
SLP will have an X-pipe to work with our Headers, unlike the early models that we make "modular" to work with both stock manifolds and our Headers. Ford actually jumped to the table and did their homework for the new models, they have a nice pipe now, it's mandrel bent and works fine to be very honest
I hope this helps and best of luck if you purchase a new 2006 Mustang, we hope we can help your performance needs in the future Sincerely,
Kevin Woodruff @ SLP Performance Parts
Tech/Sales Manager""

A must have: simple clamp on installation option for the x pipe and Cali smog legal shorty headers with high flow cats.

Is this a pipe dream?

Yes-
I would say the smog legal X pipe in CA is...........

You could see a 49 state legal X pipe from them however- as that would be a lot easier to get done-

CA has special emissions requirements and a different certification program for their converters, which very few companies have the technology to get past-

this is not a stap at SLP, they are a performance company-

however Magnaflow is close- because 80% of Magnaflows business is catalytic converters- they are actually one of if not the largest manufacturer of converters in the world-

so it could be very likely you would see a smog legal X pipe w/ converters from Magnaflow- sometime in the future-

The good news is, that many other companies also use our converters in their X and H pipes- so this means you will see the doors open for numerous smog legal parts in CA-

Again, this is not a stab at SLP, as realistically, we are in two different business' with only a few select products that actually compete against each other-
As they branch off into products like line locks and intakes- and we are into converter technology-
