My wonderful girlfriend, Jewls, is giving my a G-Tech Pro RR for a birthday present. I think it'll be a fun 'toy' to play with. But I'm not going to cast the results in stone.

I've never had one of these, but from what I've read and heard, the latest versions are fairly accurate. Most guys who run there's at the track say it's accurate less than .1 seconds to what the time slips say.

I think the key to using it is consistancy. Keep on level ground, not a lot of bumps, good mount, and it should give fairly accurate 60 ft, 0-60, 1/8. 1/4, etc times.

Like I said, it's more of a toy and a check to see if a mod made any improvement. I think having the same driver on same stretch of road everytime may help in consistency.

Anybody use one of these? Opinions?

The 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 are very accurate.
The hp and trq not very accurate at all.
As far as the G's, I have no idea, or really care.
Unit is great for practicing launches so when you get to the track you get better times. Also nice to see you speed and time gains after each mod.

I have a Gtech Pro Comp (with RR firmware) and the times are very accurate. The mph is slightly higher than at the track because of how it is measured. The hp & tq numbers aren't that accurate but with the PASS software you can compare the hp & tq curves from different runs to see any gains or print them out, etc. Pretty neat

I finally got a chance to run the G-tech. Conditions were great: 30 feet above seal level, winds calm, altimeter 29.92, and temperature was 63, so only 4 degrees above the standard day temperature of 59F. About as good as it gets for a baseline. Since I'm an aviator, I have access to nice long closed runways for you safety guys.

I was very pleased with the results. I am far from a great driver, and I'm sure the car can do better than me. Power adder mods are SCT 93 Octane tune and JLT CAI. Also a JBA catback which probably doesn't give much, but sounds good. Also, half tank gas, car is "normal" with spare tire and all, one soul on board.

Anyway, out of 4 runs, here was the best:

60' 2.19s
330' 5.80s
1/8 8.85s
1000' 11.4s
1/4 13.59@103.4mph
0-60 4.96s

I ran on the same pavement in opposite directions. And each run got a little slower, I'm guessing from the motor getting hotter. This run was the first, and turned out to be the best.

So what do you think of the results? Do they go along with those with real time slips?
