....GAS..and the ties to the disgusting..

hearing how these guys are so selfish makes me sick...I think it's time the government steps in and takes action in times like these($3+ per gallon for gas). The worst part is that there is nothing we can do that's going to make a difference...

Yes there is. USE LESS GAS. If we all do our little part to use less it WILL make a difference. Take public transportation, car pool, make all your stops in one trip on the way home from work rather than going home and back out, SLOW DOWN on the highway (I only travel 63-65MPH MAX anymore in 65mph zones), make sure the car is shut off when you are not moving, accelerate slower, use the cruise control more, etc.

I've taken things to the extreme by:

-removed my subs from the trunk and any unnecessary items to cut down on weight I'm hauling around
-reduced my highway speeds to at or below the limit
-use my cruise control EVERYWHERE... in town, the highway, no matter where
-accelerate very slowly (I don't let my auto focus get above 2800-2900rpms before it upshifts)
-"if my car is on its moving" meaning that I don't let the car run unless I am driving. If I'm on the phone and in a parking lot, I make sure the car is off so that I'm not wasting gas while idling. Also, if I'm stuck at a long red light, or stopped in a contruction zone I shut my car off.
- I do not use my air conditioning unless I absolutely have to. This is difficult but I manage even while in a suit.
-I learn to judge the distances from stop signs and such so that I can stop accelerating far enough back that I coast almost to a stop right as I reach the sign/light. there is no need to continue to accelerate as you are exiting an off ramp on a highway when you have to stop in a few hundred feet at the end of it.
-I pick my routes to routine places based on which one will allow me to either coast more (when going downhill obviously) or which one is the flattest route I can take.

By doing these little things I am averaging approx. 50-80 miles more per tank of fuel and I went from using ~2 tanks of fuel per week to 1 and a half.

Screw the gas companies, I want as little of their product as I can get by with.

On youwager.com you can bet on how high gas prices go. Now that's sad.

$3.14-89 Octane
$3.24-91 Octane

:werd: those are pretty extreme paul..... I have been car pooling though.

I refuse to fill my tank and have been buying as LITTLE gas as possible. I can make a tank last a week and a half so I no longer FILL up. I have been getting gas in 2-4 gallon increments so that the OIL companies get as little from me as possible. The law of supply and demand states that if the stations supply of gas goes up and they are requesting less from that tanker truck that comes every few days, then the price will go down. Screw them. Especially when a oil ceo makes $689 last year. Nobody needs to make that much money and is screwing the public in my o.

A lot of peopel say that but what really are you saving? You just gotta go back more often so it still adds up.

I will admit its a sad day with these prices I paid 2.87 for gas in the stang it totaled like 36.25 I think to fill it up. Usually cost me 20. And that cheap stuff I used to pay 20 for 93

My CTS get 19-21 mpg I am scared to see what the mustang is going to do MPG wise. But hey its a toy. Scr@w them I refuse to buy an SUV's its all a big plot they make these big a$$ Hunks of crude oil burning machines and then we are dumb enough to buy them and make the the oil company richer they are putting up gas prices all the way to 5 bucks a gallon for sure. thats what it is i europe. but people in europe drive little diesel cars and gas cars that get 40 mpg. but then they have there little toys. You see its not cool or pristeges to drive one Sc@w that my next car will get 40 mpg i dont car what anyone thinks. I hate oil companies, opec, crooked polititians and who the F@#$ elects oil company executives as our nations leader what a crooked web we weave. I thought the reason we went into Iraq was to put us in a better position with one of the richs oil countries. BS its just gotten more expensive buying oil from war torn Iraq. We should have oil coming out of our flipping ears. AHHHHHH.....AHHHH...Now they want to drill in alaska What else would they do they would drill their own mother for oil..

Screw them ALL Next time we vote maybe we will stop and think..also dont buy any EXXON MOBIL products boycott one brand of gas all together and they will be force to lower their prices the rest of the companies will have to follow in order to compete turn supply and demand on them.
