Hey guys, I recently changed my car from conventional oil to synthetic, and as some of the warnings stated, my car has started to leak oil in several places. The leaks are apparently so bad that I need to change my valve cover gaskets, oil pan gaskets, and upper/lower manifold gaskets. I was told this is a thousand dollar job, but since I do work with this particular shop, they quoted me 550. Is this a fair price, and are any of these gaskets easily fixable such that I can do it on my own?

The hardest one to do will be the oil pan gasket, at least for a guy at home. The engine has to be supported and the K member dropped down out of the way to get the engine oil pan on and off. You should be able to do the V/C gaskets yourself, and depending on your skills, maybe even the intake gaskets. Having the right tools and equipment make all of the difference in the world.
