I got a new temp gauge to put in my gauge cage and ive heard that you can hook the light power into your AC/heater control light. That way it will come on and dim with the lights.
What is the wire on the HVAC controls that i need to tap the gauge in to?

I know you can hook it up to the headlights but i dont want to route it that far.

1 wire going 2 feet is a bunch of wires going far?

your original post was 13 hours ago, you could have completed this long time ago and had 12 hours and 45 minutes to spare...

I dont have that cage so I havent a clue. Pull out your meter and probe HVAC wiring. Find the illumination wire and tap into it.

You wouldnt want the wiring tapped into you headlights anyhow - you want it tapped into the parking lights.

In case any of the wiring gurus see this thread, post the year of stang in case colors changed at some point.

Good luck.

Well i just said the hell with it and ran it to the fuse box, i hooked it up to the same place my tac is hooked up and grounded it on my radio ground and it is not working. The light works, i hooked it up to a battery and it works fine. What is the problem?

Grab your meter or test light. First test both wires together (to see if the gauge's light is bad). then test the 12 volt wire with a clean ground (not your radio ground). If not test light illumination, something's wrong with the feed. If it lights up, ohm out your ground. It should take about 5 mins to figure out.
You didnt run the dimmer way dim or anything, right? Fuse 13 is the dimmer fuse, as I recall. It didnt blow?
Good luck.
