I plan on getting 4.10's for my auto 2000 GT shortly. I know a guy that can install them for $175. He used to work at FORD, but recently retired. Anyhow, what else besides gears do I need for a successful installation? I have 25k miles on my car. Only mods are o/r h pipe and magnapack catback. Thanks!!

You don't "need" anything else unless if something else is badly worn and/or needs replaced. Have the person doing the install to give the axle bearings a look over and make sure they are ok. If you want, drop about 80 bucks into a new bearing and seal kit. This will replace everything else that may need replaced. I did it when I did my rear end rebuild on my car just to be on the safe side. Contact Randy Stinchcomb over at www.modulardepot.com in their forums section. He'll hook you up with what you need for a decent price.

Thank you very much. I'll see if I can get in contact with him either tonight or tomorrow. I'm rpetty anxious to get these gears installed :D

Ok. Cool. Once you get them in, drive them around a bit before getting on them. You want to give the gears time to break in before stomping them. Once they're broke in, give them all the beating you want and let us know how you like them.

Sounds good. SO I don't need a tune or anything? Also, how long do you recommend I drive around before getting on them?

If you have an automatic, you'll need to get the ECU flashed, a sport chip, or a tune. However, if you have a five speed, then all you need is a speedcal to correct the speedo. As for how many miles, I drove mine for 500 before banging them. Some recommend 1000 miles but 500 will be fine.

Im currently selling my SpeedCal. Its already set up for 4.10's. Cost $100 new + shipping. Ill sell mine for $65 shipped !!
Not meaning to sound like a prick, but I just thought I'de tell you that its against the rules to advertise parts for sale in the tech forums. Thats to be saved for Private messages and classified ads. Look for a moderator or administrator to either edit your post and or lock the thread down in the near future.

On a side note, sounds like a good deal.

Sounds good. I heard a custom tune is best, but costs around $400. Little pricey for me. Any cheaper alternative?
