I am looking into buying some 4.10 gears this weekend along with some springs maybe? but cant make up my mind..

In gears ive seen the frpp but is there any others that maybe better? also what else will i need along with the gears such as a shiim kit?

In springs i am looking for about a 1 1/2 - 2 inch drop. What all will i need to get along with my springs, if anything at all? And also what is the best springs out there for what i am looking for? ford b, c springs, eibachs, steedas? any others? thanks for any help.

FRPP is what most people go with including myself. There is a kit that sells for around 75 - 100 bucks depending on where you buy it. It includes new bearings, shims and gaskets that you should replace when cracking the pumpkin.

For springs I would go either Eibach sportlines or H&R SuperSports for the drop you're looking for.

Good Luck on whatever you choose. Also, keep in mind that with that big of a drop you should consider new shocks and struts as well as caster camber plates and spring isolators.

I have yet to see the frpp gears for under $169, and i guess about half of them come with the shim kits, what about bearing kits or complete installation kit? or would that be shim and bearing kit together?? where is this kit for 100 bucks?

what is a good choice for shocks and struts, and cc plates and spring iso's? and will that complete the non squeaky suspension??

www.buyfordracing.com sells gear sets for 139. With shipping my total was only 150 bucks. Dealt with them twice, no complaints really. The website is a little dated, but call em up and tell them cause its in the MM&FF every month. Dont forget a speedo calibrator.

Depending on what year and tranny you have you can get the Dallas Mustang Speed- cal $99, Ring and Pinion 4.10's from sutton hp - $145 and I also bought a master rebuild kit for my 8.8" rear end - $90. Don't bother to get that plastic speedo gear thing, they'll probably last 4 months then it will break.

There is no Speed Cal for an auto. Not yet anyway.
You can get a speedo gear for your trans or get you chip re programed.

FRPP,Richmond, Summit, Strange, Dana...all the same. Buy whatever's cheapest.

Go with the FRPP 4.10's.

3 reasons for me saying this.

#1 You can get them cheaper than the others.

#2 FRPP get's thier gears from the same plant that production 8.8 gears are made at.

#3 Most gears sets (including the 8.8) that Ford makes are shot peened for added strength.

All of the operations that Motive Gear does to their gears to claim that theirs are best is exactly the same thing that Ford does to ALL the gears we make. Except I don't think Motive shotpeen theirs.

1 thing's for sure, I'd stay away from Richmond gears.

See my sig.

Ragu: Get the Dallas Mustang SpeedCal, it's not that hard to install. I also have a 98 Auto and it works like a champ. Had it for about 2 years so far, no problems. With the CC plates, it's really up to you. Everyone has their own opinion on what is best or what they like. I msyelf went with the BBK set, looks real nice and doesn't make the ride to rough. As for spring ISO's, I went with Energy Suspension. These are just the things I went with. Do some research you'll find everyone has their own favorite so check things out yourself and see what you like and think works. I dealt with Brothers Performance, real nice guys and they fill orders quick. You can call them on the phone and they will help you out with what to get. Real cool bunch of guys down there. I think I dealt with Glen, super cool guy.

So I made a mistake. For some reason I guess I never looked to see if they made one for an auto. Maybe the fact that I have a 5spd has something to do with it.

No reason to throw the flag out there dickhead! J/K BTW
