I have a 2000 GT with a 5 spd. I have heard people say that by going to 4.10s u loose all your top end and the 2v motor doesnt rev high enough for them. I dont drive the highway a hole lot and have 315 drag radials in the rear. Should I go 3.73 or 4.10? Thanx

This thread has been beaten to death, look up at the Sticky's for the 4.10 gear videos.

Get the 4.10's.

After I went with 4.10's I wished I would have went 4.30's. You can do 120 in 4th gear with 4.10's. I pegged the speedo at 160 mph in 5th gear and still had rpms to go with 4.10's. I really don't think you will need anymore topend than that. And yes this topic has been beat to death and stood up and beat to death again.

Unless you are getting a KB, 4.10's are recommended on all N/A and centrifugal powered cars.

dont waste your time on 4.10s, if your not gonna go Turbo or Blower, get 4.30s. you dont lose enough top end to make a difference unless you drive 100 all the time. And 2vs are made to rev, who ever told you they dont is nuts. Find me a stock 5.0L that shifts at 6200!

That's with 245 50 16 or 245 45 17 tires.

Also 2nd gear at 6,000 RPM is 56
3rd is 84
4th is 112
and 5th is 167 (this would be your top speed on the moon with no gravity or drag)

I just ordered the 4.10s. Thanx for all your help. That sticky made my decision. I have full exhaust, bbk CAI,mass airflow sensor, superchips power programmer, and pro 5.0 SS. With 315 DRs in the rear. Last time I went to the track it went 13.95 with a terrible 2.2 60ft. But I was running bald 245s with normal driving tire pressure. With the DR's and Gears what is possible?

Good choice.

You'll get a better 60' time with the stickier tires but might still run about the same speed from all the weight you have on there. I'm still yet to take my car to the track with my heavy tires.

The 315s might slow your rev down, due to weight. Id say 13.7 with the gears.
