Well put. Some people are always advising someone else to the latest and greatest technology when the device they have already is perfectly adequate. I personally would keep the XCal 2 and invest in the PRP package if I wanted a truly useful upgrade before trading the XCal 2 in on a LiveWire

Twin turbos in 2009, so I am done adding hp for now, just wanted to make it more fun until then. Putting springs on in Jan and then going to take some time to figure out what path I will be taking to the tt's. Don't want to add things I will just have to remove...

I am excited about the LiveWire and as soon as I can afford it I am getting one. To each his own

Also, handheld programmers are about so much more than power gains. They are about learning how your engine works, monitoring its parameters, and guaging its health by baseline comparison.

I got my rear-end rebuilt, with 3.73 gears for $515...

Btw, I would have gone with 4.10s (good choice), but I do about 180-200 mile highway round trip every weekend.

The LiveWire is better than the Xcal in the sense that it has an accelerometer. Plus you can create digital gauges on its face (it suction cups to the windshield) and display whatever you want on the "guages". It includes a programmable shift light. It also has analog inputs for a/f ratio senser and exhaust gas temp sensor. It is the best product ever

Ok so basically thats a cool looking G Tech because if she has the xcal 2 and buys this, it will have pretty much the same tune(not like you can make a better one from the same tuner with no addition of mods) and is paying for the fact it can do just a tad bit more than her Xcal 2. That money can be spent on Subframes, LCA's, UCA's,etc where it makes a difference.

I got a programmable shiftlight(raptor light) for 85 bucks and it doesnt have to be stuck on the window.

I am not saying it isnt good, but for those that dont have any SCT tuning but for someone to have the Xcal 2 and havent done any real serious hp mods its a waste of money.

I would be interested in how accurate the analog A/F ratio setup is on the LiveWire versus standalone digital A/F ratio sensors/guages/dataloggers. The exhaust gas temperature sensor (pyrometer) function on the LiveWire would be a nice addition however.

I bought a Diablo Predator long before the SCT XCal 2 was released, and have an excellent tune through it that is no need of changing. If the XCal 2 had been available at that time I might very well have bought one, but I have never seen any reason or logic in selling the Predator I have to get one. Same difference with the XCal 2 and the Livewire, if the XCal 2 one has is working perfectly fine for their application, I would recommend keeping it and spending the money, as blackfang suggested, on other mods.

I'm going to wait on the LiveWire... as said... I already have the xcal and to be perfectly honest, probably don't know enough yet to be able to use the extra features on the livewire. I am doing springs with the gift cert I get every year for Christmas, then the next thing planned is mm sfc's...

All the LiveWire has is an input connector for a/f, accuracy would depend on the type and quality of the actual sensor you buy.

Hey, another question... today I was talking to a guy that used to race stangs long ago... and he said I will need sfc's (which I am already planning on) and ladder something or others... I have not heard this term... does this apply to our cars???

Subframes are a great addition to our cars(one of the items I told you, you should get instead of the livewire) as it stiffens up our cars. Ladder bars are a similar rear suspension design to our 4 link.

Definately get Lower Control Arms and SFC's

SFC's make a bigger difference that springs.
They tighten up the front and rear subframes for better handling and makes the car stiffer
They make the chasis stronger, and god forbid you get in an accident they can help prevent any chassis damage. I am not saying they will stop it, but they can reduce it than if you didnt have any. They are fairly easy to install and just make sure the welding areas are clean(I took a grinder to the floor pan, and SFC's before we welded them in.

Ok, thank you, was gonna do the springs only cause I feel like an outcast.. haha.. I am the only one here with a 4x4, but I am more interested in performance than how the car looks at this point, am just not sure, cause I already asked for my Christmas gift cert. to be from AmericanMuscle, and I kind of have my heart set on MM sfc's so I have to figure out how to do this...

I dont have springs(yet). I am still looking at my setup as it will be for dragracing just as much as driving and probably going with Foxbody 4 cylinder srpings up front and V8 drag springs for the rear. This will lower it nicely and still allow the car to transfer weight and squat. However, my Twin Screw is a part of the project and why I am chosing those springs.

Ahh! Problem solved, I just checked AmericanMuscle's site and they have the mm sfc's, so I can still get them with the gift cert. Thank you for all the help, blackfang... I appreciate the help and patience... I'm trying to do the car right, but still in the beginning stages of learning...
