Just made the appointment for the gears! I'm pretty excited. Going with the Ford Racing 4.10's, and the appointments is on Dec. 26. The total cost will be $600 - includes the gears, bearings, oil, and installation. He said they don't recommend 4.10's on a 5-speed, usually 3.73, but it's up to me. I am trusting you guys, and said I want the 4.10's. Just wanted to post cause I'm so excited!
:D

Nice, :nice: . $600 is a good deal for everything. Don't listen to them about not recomending 4.10 for a 5 speed, I have them and they were the best mod I have done. Im am glad I went with 4.10s. You are going to be all smiles when you first drive it.

Congrats!!

Must not be a real Mustang shop that tunes and modifies a *****load of Mustangs with serious mods as most of the top tuners and respected shops recommend 4.10's and even 4.30's are ok for a DD 2V

:
BTW, your hubby didnt want you do get the midpipe, but he's letting you get gears?
 I think he was annoyed then cause I was supposed to get a hood, but got the tb/plenum, midpipe, and xcal instead...

that is, unless your going WOT all the time
:D

You are the one that made me so obsessed with getting gears! And I am going to the shop that DropTopPony recommended to me, Kasper's Korner - they race at Atco...
i hope you never see the freeway
I don't... I work 3 miles from my house... can make it in 5 minutes on a good day.. 7 minutes on a bad day... :p

Yeah, I havent heard of them. Not saying they arent a good group of people, but there is a difference of them saying 4.10's arent a good gear in a 5 speed 2V GT and Tim Barth of Modular Power House saying 4.10's and 4.30's are a great gear for a NA 2V GT.

I will go with someone who has tuned over 700 2V's both NA, turboed, Nitrous and supercharged.

I love getting on the highway with my 4.30's :D

Personally unless you have some serious mods I.E heads, cams, full bolt ons, etc those are just a waste of money if you already have an Xcal2 Yeah it has better gadgets and all but really you arent going to make anymore noticable hp.

Invest in some suspension, gearing and some hp mods that you will see big gains with.

Congratulations on going with the 4.10's, you'll like them. Forget the typical posts about them "getting annoying real soon" and "hope you never see the freeway", as those are both, simply put, BS that's spouted out by someone in nearly every gear thread. Those of us who actually have them and use them in a daily driver know you have made a wise choice.

The LiveWire is better than the Xcal in the sense that it has an accelerometer. Plus you can create digital gauges on its face (it suction cups to the windshield) and display whatever you want on the "guages". It includes a programmable shift light. It also has analog inputs for a/f ratio senser and exhaust gas temp sensor. It is the best product ever :flag:
