What the heck is the gell coat? I'm buying a ram air hood for my fox from "carramrod" and the fiberglass hood still has the gell coat from cervinis on it. What needs to be done for prep, before primer?
The Gel Coat is the outer surface,it looks like the shiny smooth stuff that fiberglass products have.You prep by sanding it and checking for pinholes or imperfections in the fiberglass.Sand it with a 320 then prime and sand with a 400 and 600.
