Getting rid of old dealers sins

Hi

Just bought a mustang about a week ago and am planning to get at cleaning it up really good so it feels "new".

Anyway some previous dealer had a dealer emblem on it which they took off, but left me a present on the rear deck lid.

Whats the best way to get this off?, heat it up with a hair dryer/heat gun and peel away or is there some magic trick i dont know of.

Heating up lightly with a hair dryer might soften it enough to gently pry it off -- don't overdo it on the heat.

Other than that, I'd probably try Goo Gone... of the goo-type solvents, it's the one I've had the best experience as far as being safe for paints and plastics.

Friction will remove the foam part, but the adhesive, you'll want to use something like Jim recommended. As funny as it sounds, using your thumb to kinda "smear" the foam off works the best in my experience, since it won't scratch the paint.

ive always been told that wd 40 would take the goo off of paint, never tried it, afraid that i might take the paint with it. i used a hair drier on mine but it was a vinyl sticker and peeled right off with some heat. i absolutly hate dealer tags! its like im advertising for the dealership for free!

Amen, I have seen some used car dealers in Dallas that have caught on to this and have begun to screw their emblems onto the vehicle so that removing them not ideal. Crazy.

Just wrapped it up

Just got inside from taking off the crap. I used a hairdryer, rubbed with my thumb, and used some 'tar and bug' remover stuff and it looks great, i'll try to get a picture of it.
