Is there some way to get rid of the PVC valve to keep the intake cleaner?

Roland is right on. Best of both worlds IMHO(breathers are messy). A simple separator works well.

Good luck.

A rather lengthy writeup on the pcv and oil control issues.

http://www.freewebs.com/vristang/pcvoilcontrolissues.htm

I did list some part numbers there too.

What are you trying to do?

If you plug the pcv hose, how do you plan on venting the crankcase?

Please provide more details on what you plan to do.
I have had been through some major issues, and have finally sorted things out.
I may be able to help, but I need alot of detail on what you have.

In the link I provided there is a "diagnostic" type section. (I don't remember what I actually called the section though) This will help you determine where the oil is coming from.

I can't pull up my website at work, and maybe you can't either.

Here is the same writeup, as I posted it in a thread.

If you want to ditch the PCV, run an EVAC set up

for most of the time i have no pcv system and two breathers (one on each valve cover). i have the breathers on because i run a sc and while under boost the blowby has no where to go cause the pcv cant vent the crankcase under boost. for smog i have to hook up the pcv again and when it is hooked up, i have an oil separator inbetween the intake and the pcv

Just a thought, but have you tried using multiple pcv valves?

I was having a problem with filling my separator too quickly, but since adding a second pcv I have not accumulated any significant amount of oil in the separator.

Because I am using a box style upper intake it was fairly easy for me to do. I simply used a valve cover on the driver side that allowed mounting of a breather/pcv cap. If you have a stock style long runner intake, this will provide clearance issues to mounting a second pcv on the drivers side. Mounting a second pcv on the passenger side may prevent adequate ventilation of the crankcase as fresh air from the TB/VC hose would want to rush out the pcv mounted on the passenger valve cover.
I think I explained it better in the link I provided above though.

I have not been able to think of an easy way to mount a second pcv when using a long runner intake. If you come up with something please let myself and everyone else here know. I think this is the permanent long term fix for everyones pcv woes.

I have taken several pics, but have not had a chance to post them yet.
I blew the HG in the 408w, and I have to get the 2.3 to pass emissions on Monday.
