i wanna make my stang really loud, but not spend that much money right now. I was thinking about glass packs, and if i was gonna get them what brand should i get and what size is the stock catback for welding them in?
I think it's 2.25" but wasn't sure.

i eventually will get a new catback but want a quick loud fix for now

Glasspacks sound like azz IMO save up and do it right the first time, get a quality catback, header and mid pipe of your choice. Check out www.mustangexhaust.com for some sound clips, but you have to register to be able to hear em. And do a search, this topic has been covered extensively, and welcome to the board

Don't do mufflers right away if you are on a budget. Swap out the midpipe for the most bang/buck. Then, if you aren't happy, get weld-ins or a true cat-back system. Welcome!

If down the road you will have money, and just want some sound now, just weld in some staight pipes in place of your stock mufflers. Alot of the guys here dont like that sound, but I think it sounds alright, and it would be cheap. Otherwise, save for the catback, and remember, for the most part, you get what you pay for.

you do know glass pack is just a type of muffler, the likes of Magnaflow use them in all their catbacks.

Some will hate them, but some (like me) love them. I'm running O/R X-pipe and Race Bullets. Really loud, but I think it sounds perfect.

if i was to get straight pipes, would it be worth it to get new 2.5" pipes for the catback and new tips, or would it sound about the same as factory pipes with no mufflers?

If you're planning to do glasspacks, get the big red tubular shaped ones.. I want to say Thrush makes them. They have a sick cackling sound at high RPM's, similar to an X pipe, and IIRC, they are pretty cheap.. maybe 30 bucks. Any muffler shop could weld them in for you for 20-30 bucks.

its the truth. i love my SLP, but my god they are not meant to be used with an off-road x-pipe. if you want to save some money overall, get a UPR o/r X and the LM II cat-back. the price is the same for the LM I and II cat-back, but the UPR o/r X is only $160. a lot less than the SLP o/r X. sounds very good. heres a clip. its not mine but im whoring it out anyway. the blower whine doesnt sound too bad either.
