2 Saleens hidden away. My sons newly restored 91 Mustang 7Up Convert hidden in a garage. My older sons 92 former GHP coupe will be in drive way....guess who wants a new paint job! My Mountaineer will have a BULLSEYE on the windshield. 2 big generators waiting to get fired up.....more gas on hand that I have ever had before.

Slow 65/66 cars hidden...one here in Naples and one in Orlando.

Bring it on Wilma. We've had worse. Anybody want to drop by on Tuesday and clean this mess up?

Mark, thanks. We will be w/o power for a couple of days...well, we will have a generator, but I do not plug in my computer to it as the voltage varies.....= blown computer!

Talk to you all soon. Wilma, you are Wimp....!

Damn,

Everyone talks about all of the nuts and chews, and non existent earthquakes out here in California, but I'd rather live here waiting for the next "big one" then have to go through the alphabet every summer and fall waiting to be flooded or have my house blown away by the next hurricane. Damn.

Agreed, Marcus.
When I moved (temporarily) to Wichita, KS in summer '94, everyone there asked me about the Northridge earthquake which occurred earlier that year. They wanted to know how I could have lived in CA with all of the earthquakes. I told them then & continue to say so to this day, that I would rather take my chances with an earthquake than having to deal with tornados or hurricanes or floods.
My parents live in Ft. Myers, FL & I have other relatives scattered around that state. Fortunately none of them have sustained any damage from the many hurricanes that have hit FL. The worst that's happened is temporary power outages & loss of phone service.
I've experienced several minor & major earthquakes, but have fortunately survived unscathed. It's nothing like the fear of watching the weather forecast predicting the path of an approaching tornado or going outside to watch the skies & hearing the sirens sound.
I also lived in New Orleans for a couple of years & experienced a tropical storm with major flooding which is something I don't care to witness again.

At least with hurricanes you get some warning and can prepare as footnfan has. You can get your family to safety when you have some warning. With earthquakes you really can't. Sure, you can have your water and food supplies and crap ready, but noone is going to tell you when the next big one will hit so all you can really do it wait and hope it doesn't hit where you are. That part of living out here more or less sucks. Actually the price of housing sucks more. :)

Back at it

Well............your worst nightmare has come true, I survived!

We were hit be the front of the storm....no big deal, and then the back side....big deal. Tha back side in naples had 120+ MPH gusts. Our pool cage is mangled. Most of out neighbors had them completely collapse. My son and I went out to our pool deck to check out a major noise just before the big gusts hit....from the backside. We quickly said...man, this is really dumb. Get back inside! A 100+ mile wind will just scare the life out of you if it does not knock you on your butt...or up against a slider window.

We were very lucky. I had just had our roof checked as the storm was headed to Mexico. The checked any loose tiles and did a general check. We lost zero tiles....for those quake area livers, losing a tile is usually the pre event to losing your whole roof. You never just lose one!

No phone or power for a couple of days. No real serious damage though....and I got to have a coupe, of days with my boys cleaning up the mess. We have our bodies complete...a house around us.....power-phones...or not, life is good. Thanks for the nice messages and well wishes.

I was able to bring home my Saleen big brakes from Orlando....when I dropped one car there so I will have them back in the classifieds soon. Perviously, I did not have them in my possession, and I could not guarantee my friend that had them would ship them timely.

Thanks everyone.
