I can't stand the 2.73's any longer. I had one hell of a time deciding on what gears I should get, but in the end I decided to not fear the gear, and go with 4.10's. I am going to miss the 26mpg on the freeway though. Has anyone else done a swap this drastic before? How hard was it to get use to? I hit a 14.7 at the track with just a h-pipe and flows. with the 4.10's and a recently added t/a, how much should i expect to knock of my 1/4 mile time?

btw am I missing anything?
4.10's from gefracing
RING & PINION INSTALL KIT 2 from gefracing
8.8 traction loc kit from gefracing
speedcal from brothers performance

It's good that you got 4.10s. I think I would've been happy with 3.73s too, but the 4.10s make the car feel like you are really harnessing all that engine power for once. The power is always there now! It will feel like it won't stop pulling.

As long as you don't have traction issues, gears are good for a half a second. But if you can't hook up as it is, then gears will hurt you. I went from 2.73's to 3.73's, and it was night and day driving!! You'll love them.

on the Pre-99 Cars you could get 2.73's or 3.27's. There were a few years you could even get optional factory installed 3.73's.

The doorjamb sticker tells all. On the sticker there will be a box at the bottom that says AX for axle, the following letter says what gears it came with factory.

M=2.73
E=3.27
Z=3.08

i just purchased a 2000 GT w/automactic and i think it has the 3:73's and as far as i'm concerned they suck for highway use. i will be looking into having the 3:08's or the 3:27's put back in it. at 75 mph the tack is reading 2500 rpm, not to good for gas mileage. i perfer top end and plenty of highway use.
