Going to the track...pull the airbag fuse?

I'm going to be in a touring car class at Hallett Speedway outside of Tulsa. It's a Saturday morning, recreational class open to all vehicles except trucks and vans. Helmets required. Passing in corners is pretty restricted. Good for beginners. The track is a 1.8mile - 21 turn, really tight course with nice chicanes, short straightaways and wide grassy runoff areas. Really safe. I was wondering if I shoulds pull my airbag fuse in case I get a little happy and spin it through the grass. I'd hate to spend $1000 if the airbags go off. I'm aware that there's a reason why they're there, but this track has no concrete walls and as long as my buddy behaves himself and doesn't use his vette to spin me into the control tower, I don't see much use to have them active.

Tell me what you think.

Doubt they would go off. As far as I know, most cars have sensors built in the front of the engine bay and the air bags will only go off if you compress the sensors or whatever. It won't go off unless you actually smash your front end up. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Matt :)

they won't go off

requires 28mph frontal impact to go off

He's right, there are acceleromators in the front of the car which measure the g-forces so unless you hit something really hard theres not a chance there will be enough forces to set them off. I heart it was 35 mph but either way you are fine with them in. Its good safety just in case you were to hit another car, it could save your life :)
