I need to buy some new struts and shocks for my (lowered) 03 GT. Can anyone reccommend any? I'm looking for performance w/ warranty. It's my daily driver so I'm looking for a good ride I just don't want to get pounded all day. Thanks Scot
I went with the Tokico HP's on my stang. I have been very happy with them, keeps the ride nice and smooth, while providing excellent handling. It basically depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I didn't want to drop the $500 + for bilsteins, but like with anything, you get what you pay for. I also didn't need the full adjustability of the 5-way Tokico Illuminas, since I'm not going to be changing my handling characteristics (besides the original drop). That left me with the Tokico HP's..$350 on ebay. There are also some cheaper than that, but price equates to quality. Basically, you just need to figure out your "price range", and then go from there.
if you want a forgiving ride but still handles well the bilsteins are the choice... went from stock to HR race springs and bils and only noticed a slight change in ride quality while gaining alot in handeling ability. they do cost... pay it.
As said, Bilstein's are a great shock, Tokico's are good too, and IMO are the best adjustable shock for the money. Also my opinion based on having had Bilstein's, Tokico's and Koni's, the Koni's are the best shock for handling you can put on a vehicle but with that note are the most expensive too.
I'm not limited by price. I just want the best in performance/warranty and I'm willing to pay for it.
My springs are Eibach pro (black) pn:3510 301.
One, that I was looking at-KYB adj.shocks. But i'm guessin just because they're adjustable, doesent mean they're better. the Bilsteins are lookin pretty good. Thanks for the input. Scot
I would go bilstein/koni if you looking for the best. tokico's are nice but I have heard about people blowing out the standard partnumbers on lowered cars. that tells me they are not quite as robust as the bilsteins.
I did not get koni because I just figured I would not actually adjust my shocks and struts that much.
I went with Bilsteins. I drive long and fast everyday for 1-1/2 to 2 hours (twice a day). My Bilsteins on my lowered Stang feel sweet. I fly through those mountain hilly curves and I run with the sporty cars just fine.
Just wait till my SC is on... (I'm dieing here...)
What Bilstein kit/part number did you guys use? Did anyone go with the BTS kit? It looks like the BTS comes with lowering springs and everything, or would I have to buy something like a set of H&R supersports and CC plates in addition? Also, the Bilstein PSS kit looks pretty good, any opinions on that?
