car is a 95 5.0 mods are cobra intake, fms shorty headers, 2.5 off road h with flows, bbk cai, 4.10 gear i have a tko 500 for a trans

best run was 176 hp 231 tq
other were 158 hp 224tq
160 hp 224 tq

car dies after 4 grand any ideas why? i know it is hard to say over the computer but any help would be great

this was today at the woodward dream cruise temp was 97 with 19% humidity on a roush trailor dyno

i'm happy with the tq # but the hp sucks

Right on the money for a stock 95 5.0. (w/ 20% driveline loss: 215 x .8 = 172) The heads are your real restriction. Put some GT-40's on there and I bet it would wake it up a little.

Man that seems low. But pretty consistant so its probably right. Kinda sucks that our cars aren't contenders anymore (stock anyways)

With very similar mods i put down 239hp to the wheels. Something is really wrong. I would suspect valve springs or iginition problems.

Yup. Used to be you could take off the intake silencer, set the timing to 13 deg, put in some 3.73's and rule the street. Now a Camry comes with more hp than our early Stangs. Big time !

97 degrees is really hot. Was the fan blowing right on the rad? Hood open? With that intake, it shouldn't die on the top end like that. Did you putz with the timing when you put the manifold on? Maybe it's off?

Hard to tell from here.

and if you have a cobra intake, and a 5-spd you should be pushing over 200 rwhp

those nombers are quite low. with a gt40 intake, 70mm t/b, cold air kit, shorties, o/r h, and flows i made 230.2hp 293.2lb/ft. when is the last time you did the typical tune up stuff? (fuel filter, cap & rotor, plugs, etc.) also, if the car was run with a wideband, what was the a/f ratio? if you could scan and post up the graph that would also be helpful.

what type of dyno?

graph would help as to how bad it really dies off.

i'm worried about the torque--sounds like a fuel issue to me.

If you can physically feel the car dying off at 4K there is something wrong, regardless of whatever numbers you posted. I'm still saying coil. How many threads have we had about motors dying off around 4K. Often times the coil was the culprit. I know when mine went out it really messed up my powerband at that point. Other things I would look to is plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. Once you have all those covered you get deeper into it. I say coil first though.

this was done on a roush dyno that is on a trailor that is taken to car shows and events. tehy back it up a ramp onto the trailor and lift the ramp up to even the trailor out so the car is about 5 ft in the air.

it's suppose to cost $75 for 3 pulls but the owner of the Royal Oak ford dealorship told me after my pulls not to pay him and come see him when i want to buy a new car so i'll give tony girmaldi from royal oak ford on woodward a shout out

my computer is too slow to put pictures on here so my #'s for my best pull are:
rpmx1000 ft-lbs hp
2.3 58.21 25.49

I'd take it to the track.

I don't trust those mobile dynos, especially when afterward the guy says don't pay me.

Agreed seems kinda low. W/ gt-40 intake, pulleys, exhaust, I had 245 rwhp, 292 rwtq. Was on a dynojet though. I would check for codes, check for any vacuum leaks, re check the intake ( my bolts usually need re torque after about 200 miles or so).
