I was planning on rebuilding a 302 soon to replace my tired one. a very good friend of mine (latamud- posts in the classics) pointed this one out to me

here is the auction I won it on. And he is local. I should be able to pick it up this weekend. Guess I will be putting off the 5 lug conversion a little bit longer. Hopefully the wife doesn't kill me.

thanks bart, and I hate you for planting this in my mind. LOL!
he has an awesome 66 with a 351W that I was luck enough to drive when he was driving it across country (brave soul LOL!)

just arent a performance head. kinda similar to a e7. 1.84 intake and 1.54 exhaust valves. with air injection bumps. at least there closed chambers, around 60cc's. however thats for 75-77 351w 78-? had even worse heads with 1.74 intake and i think1.46exhaust. which were open chambers, and around 69cc's. they could be pretty good with a lil home port work i guess. id look for a good set of big vavle 351C heads! DOAE series which are an awesome 351 head, pretty rare though.

thanks for the info. I will more than likely toss a lot of the things on it that I don't need (ebay maybe) and keep the bare essentials on an engine stand. I like to keep my fox a 302 as I have a lot of parts for it now that i want to put on. Probably find a roller fox or classic to put the 351 in. always looking ahead I guess.
Bart you are going to help me scour (sp?) the yards for some hardware for this thing. I am thinking something like a scat 393 crank ($395 last I looked) to stroke it and use the stock 5.956 rods (correct me if i am wrong). I have research this in the past but it has been awhile. I may just be talking out my arse. probably go carbed but I would love to keep it efi.... I will just mainly clean it up for now. put it in a corner for now.

Jon,
393, get the crank, reuse the 351w rods, and get a set of stock compression height 5.0 pistons. If the bores are good on the 351, 4.000, you can use factory 5.0 pistons, now thats a budget 393. Actualy, if you don't bore it, I think its like a 387.

from the pics it totally needs to be cleaned and gone through. I will take it to the machine shop eventually and see if I can get away with just honing it but if not, no biggy. .030 over won't hurt anything :) I am searching ebay and alike for heads now. LIke I said nothing in the near future as I will try to find a notch roller for this thing. probably a t-5 or a c-6 trans.

well, it will be mostly street driven with a few rides at the track so a c-6 might be a bit much. I am leaning more toward the t-5, thanks for your help

a C-4 when built a little bit will take a lot of power and they are tuff trannys, if you want a stick and you are going in a classic stang get a toploader 4-speed :) i thouight that i would just chime in.

The only reason I won't go 4 loader is for one, a t-5 in a classics looks bitchin and in a fox I gotta have a 5-spd. When I was younger a toploader would have worked but I guess I am getting spoiled in my old age.
