Ordered a Paxton Novi 1220 SL for the 5.0! Jegs had them on sale plus the $250 rebate and altho im not a fan of polished engines, the polished version was cheaper than the satin. Plus with my tax return coming it seemed like a good deal.

Now, Im a little scared of the install but at least no tapping the pan with this kit. I should be fine installing this out of the box on my fairly stock 5.0 right? My car has about 124k on it and is my daily driver. If Im just going to run 5-6 psi, I dont need a rev limiter do I? I believe I have a 155 lph fuel pump in there now, that should be ok right?

Hopefully I will get a weekend off to do the install but right now im just hoping the car will handle the extra power. Any tips on the install? Anything I should have on hand to do it? Anything else I need?

I also got a autometer boost gauge and single a-pillar. I Couldnt decide on what other gauges to get. I think if I ever increase the boost I will get a dual a-pillar and get a/f or wide band. I wasnt sure about getting two 2 5/8 or two 2 1/16 but now that i have seen the actual size of the 2 5/8 I think for a dual a-pillar the 2 1/16 would look better.

Install was easy but expect to spend mor etime on it than recommended especially if it's your DD. I had to find and make different bolts for my mounting bracket as the ones supplied with mine were the wrong ones for my aluminum heads.

I would think you would be ok with your pump especially if you are using stock injectors etc. on a stock 5.0 but you will have to use the fmu.

Hello 50% more horsepower. Just be ready for older stuff to break under the new stress. It sometimes happens.

I did that to one of my 5.0 with 90,000 miles on it. Blew both head gaskets. Go with 24# injectors the fuel pump should be fine. Do you have a full after market exhuast? I strongly recommend a tune though. Good luck though and take your time, don't halfa$$ anything.

Im a little worried about blowing the headgaskets or other stuff falling apart. Before I do anything, I need to get some new tires first. Talking to a few other people, they recommend a bypass valve. From what ive read a bypass isnt really needed till you go above 7psi, should I just throw one on there just to be safe?
This would help protect the engine and supercharger right? And whats your thoughts on the bosch plastic ones? I cant see why anyone would want a plastic housing bypass.

that should say a tune is need for ANY boost.

Here are some of my suggestions.

Ditch the FMU, those things are junk, like using a bandaid on a hatchet wound.

If you are running stock injectors, you are going to need at least 30's, i would say go with 42's so you only have to buy them once, and be done with it.

Buy a bypass valve and save the turbines of the blower, the bosch ones have been successful on plenty of cars making well over 400 rwhp, including myne at one time. Not running one is crazy, they are really cheap insurance.

Seriously consider an MSD box, the stock ignition is good, but once you start pressurizing the cylinders its far from ideal.

Install a 255 pump in the tank, its easy to do, and the 155 WILL not keep up with the blower.

Most importantly get a custom tune you dont know what your A/F ratio is, unless you have a wideband, and the car is goin to drive 10 times better with a chip for your personal car, not to mention the piece of mind that your car isnt going to DETONATE and loose a headgasket or worse a piston everytime its driven.

Blowers are alot of fun, but its not realistic to expect to bolt one on without changing supporting parts and having issues down the line, when i put my novi 2k on my 302 i blew 2 head gaskets within a month, and lost a valve 2 years later, but it was alot of fun, and i really got to know how to work on my car haha

Think of a supercharger not just as a device to make HP, but also as a magnifying glass to whatever problems your car is hiding. Im not trying to scare you, but this is the truth in alot of cases
