got my sct2 a few questions

i got it from mph im a lil confused i did what the directions told me to, i dont feel much if any of a gain. I also have 4.10 gears, and i got 93 tune loaded supposibly, it uploaded then it downloaded and i did everything it told me to and it didnt change my speedometer. I disconnected battery pulled the 2 fuses then reconnected battery started to flash then after the flash was done i disconnected the battery again and i put the fuses back in, then reconnected the battery, does this sound like the right way to do it? I did notice my car got to operating temp faster and my idle was a higher. Any help is appreciated thanks guys

you don't have to disconnect the battery when you flash it.

try it without the battery disconnects

oh ok, in the ford handbook it said to disconnect on the page with the fuses, will def try that tomorrow thanks

You do on the 96...thats why I got rid of mine.

Steps:
Remove fuel pump and fan fuses.

Turn key on...(do not start)

Plug in tuner and select appropriate tune.

After tune is loaded turn off key and disconnect battery for 30 seconds.

Replace fuses and connect battery.

With your limited mods I doubt you gained much. Do you have more than exhaust and 4.10's? Also the tuner will not fix the speedo for gears on your car. You need a Speedcal or speedo gear replacement.

Ok thats strange we don't have to do that when we flash the processors on 96's with WDS/IDS

the tuner will fix for gears on a 96+ mustang.. they must have screwed up his tune or he did not tell them about the 4.10's

Something about reseting the "keep alive memory". Not sure what it was about but the time I tried the flash without the battery disconnect the car wouldn't stay running.

Not on the 96...went over that with SCT when I bought it.

thats also odd. I wonder why it will not support speedo correction on 96's 96 are not cable driven like the older EEC IV mustangs.. I don't see whats different about the 96

Did SCT explain to you why it does not support it.

Did SCT explain to you why it does not support it.

Mine is cable driven...if I'm not mistaken so are the 97 and 98's. The gear ratio change with the unit only works on 99+ cars.

96 and 97 just require a plastic gear change in the tranmission sender unit. 20 bucks for a T5 I assume they're the same for a T45. 98 Switched over and requires a speedo calibrator or tune adjustment. I've never disconnected the battery in my 97 and the tune always worked. I felt a big power diff but I did a PI intake at the same time and I had an auto at the time.

I wouldn't waste money on the plastic gear. Mine disentegrated in less than a year.

For some reason you only have to disconnect the battery on the 96 and earlier cars. Dunno why it is different but it was enough of a bother that I got rid of the Xcal2 and just bought a 4 bank chip.

You DO have to disconnect the battery on 96-97 Mustangs that have been flashed with a custom program - to clear the memory - no real hassle though - disconnect, step on the brake 5-6 times and reconnect.

The Speedo correction in the EEC started in 1999 Mustangs. Earlier than that and you need a Spped Cal - it IS and electronic connection but it is NOT controlled by the EEC in those years.
