I heard somewhere that there might be a grease fitting for the throwout bearing. Is that true?

Fortes Parts sells a clutch cable grease fitting....but not the bearing.

"FPC-110 Cable Lube Accessory
Installation will take about 20 minutes and requires the following tools and supplies: Small allen wrenches, electric drill, a sharp 3/32" bit, black electrical tape.
Caution: improper installation may damage your cable
1. Carefully measure 1/8" back from the tip of the drill bit and place a band of electrical tape so that only 1/8" of the tip is visible below the tape.
2. Carefully centering the bit on the cable, hold it perpendicular to the cable and drill into the cable until either the tape contacts the outer cable housing or you feel a decrease in resistance. Caution: excessive penetration of the drill bit may fray your inner cable. Be careful.
3. Assemble the two halves of the fitting, taking care to position the grease nipple directly over the drilled hole.
4. Tighten the two mounting screws and apply grease. "

I've never heard of it in a fox body mustang, but I have seen them on other vehicles. The throwout bearing in my dad's 1978 F250 had a grease fitting on it.

some have said they noticed a difference with spraying white lithium grease in there - i dont see how it would get into the bearing (i think it might coat the retainer a bit, but that is all).
good luck.

I dont think your supposed to get any grease inside the bearing. My throwout bearing just went out on me a few weeks ago. I pulled it all to replace it and it came apart as i was pulling the clutch fork through the bellhousing. It looks like something, most likely grease, had worked its way into the bearing area, been heated, and then got cooked completely solid, enclosing about 1/3 of the bearings and causing me one very bad day 100 miles from home. What a bitch to replace a $30 part.....
