Grease marks on the front frame, what does it mean?

I'm trying to find info on what the grease pencil marks on the front frame means.

Anyone?

If you car has never been restored, marks like that came from the factory indicating that the work had been completed and checked.

Yeah, I have some white crayon marks on the lower part of my core support.

Hi Monk, I know what they are, but what do the numbers mean? I mean, I know it's not an arbitrary number that someone just said "843...this car looks like an 843"......"One cigarette per car, this is my 843rd cigarette"..."843 more cars until I go on vacation, next one will be 842 more cars until my vacation"...It must mean something. That's what I'm trying to find out.

Are you a member on www.vintage-mustang.com ? There tends to be more concourse type poeple on there, whereas alot here are modified mustang guys (just a generalization). You may have better luck on there, as alot of MCA Judges are members there. I do know that they are hard to decifer, and seem to vary between plants and years. HTH

It probably means that employee #843 has finished his tasks on the car.

It is like the small tag in your bag-o-underwear that says "checked by 21" on it
