Greasing the ole balljoint

Anyone ever pump too much grease into your aftermarket ball joints? I did. So much that it literally popped the boot off when I mounted the spindle. Now I have to yank the spindle back off and re-grease. I wish there was an easier way to know how much is enough.

Just watch the boot, you will see it filling up.

I filled it up right but the weight of the spindle pushed the grease out the bottom of the boot causing it to slip off one side. The wire clip that holds the boot on the ball joint was useless (thanks QA1). On top of it all I punctured the boot with the pickle fork when I removed the spindle. I used super glue to repair it so we'll see if that works or not. I may just end up replacing the ball joints with the ones from steeda.

My car's been up in the air for 3 weeks now for suspension work. It seems everytime I install some aftermarket part I end up doing some fabrication work or ordering more parts to make it all work.

a good dead blow hammer works better than a pickle fork. just smack the spindle where it meets the ball joint a couple of times and it should pop right out. you gotta put some ass behind it but it will come loose.
the boot is gone. glue wont help it any.
