My question today is in regards to the bumper insert in the attached photo.

Is the gap between the new insert and the new Cervini hood too large? I think there is more than a half inch gap.

I also noticed that the gaps between the hood and the fenders is much larger than the gaps when the stock hood was on it. Normal??

As fyi, the photo was taken this morning, and you can see the body shop has already painted the jams and under the hood. They will be prepping the exterior today for a base coat tomorrow.

Plans for this job include:
1. Cervini hood replaces stock.
2. Cobra rear bumper cover replaces stock GT cover.
3. Cobra grill insert with running pony of course.
4. Three guage pod cowl grill cover replaces stock.
5. New head lights replace the dingy yellow stock lights.
6. Passenger door auto lock actuator replaced so I can now lock the door.
7. New door hinge pins and bushings.
8. Hooker Maxflow mufflers and LX tail pipes.
9. Paint: GM Torch Red with a Mini Cooper Silver Stripe from bumper to bumper.
10. The wheels an tires in the photo are my old ones...didn't want to get overspray on my '03 Cobra wheels.

It's not supposed to touch if that's what you mean

I'd say a 1/4 inch or so isn't bad

Gap should be somewhere around where the following pic shows.

just a question..my car is white and id like to paint it black...is their any reason why i shouldnt?

And how much would a good quality paint job cost? (04 cobra black)?

Ive done my engine bay trim black, the whole interior and trunk. My door pannels are already off and ive bought all the molding for a convertible, so I would take those off as well before bringing it to a body shop.

I'm going from Ford Medium Red to a lighter GM Tourch Red, and the difference in the shade of colors is very noticable. Instead of the full-blown removal of engine, fenders, doors, etc., I opt'd for a standard application with all jams included.

So far, there have been good results under the hood, under the hatch, and in all the jams without a hint of that medium red poking through.

I would say that $5k would get you the full-on premium paint job here in Tampa, Florida; whereas $2500 should get the job done without pulling engine, doors, and fenders.

I wouldn't be afraid of going from the lighter color to black. I think I'd be more worried about going the other direction.

Thank you - sweet looking ride you have there!

I'll now have the challenge of convincing the body shop that a .25 inch gap is the way to go. I'm sure they'll charge me, so I hope its an easy fix.
