I've got one guy telling me to get some 4-0 gauge wire and make it myself and another telling me to order the wiring from the dealer or similar. Lead me in the right direction guys.

Frankly I would think the answer would depend upon your abilities. It's certainly easier to buy cables already put together for your car. Also possible to make your own assuming that you know what you are doing. It's also possible to waste a lot of expensive copper if you don't.
