Hey guys!! I just swapped out my regulator with a BBk AFPR. When I went to go turn it on it ran for a few sec then just died and wouldn't turn on. I went to go look and i could smell gas. It wasn't coming from the regulator so I pop of the MAF tubing that connects to the TB and i open the butterfly and fule comes out. I look at my MAF and there is fuel running down there. What could i have done wrong!! 255lbs pump in the rear.

i would look at your regulator again........there should realy be no way that fuel could rise that far up into your intake........on the injected cars, the fuel goes right into the heads........so i again, would look for a leak around my fuel regulator or lines.............hotwheels

Have you tried taking the vacuum hose off of the regulator and see if fuel is coming out the top of the regulator? With the vacuum hose off turn the key on to prime the fuel system and see if fuel come out of the regulator where the hose goes. If it does then it is bad.

when this happens and people are around, i like to make sure my dog is next to me - he makes a good scapegoat (or scapedog).

agreed with above responses.
if you are unsure if it is fuel in the TB for sure (or just liquid), it can also be coolant (EGR).

but if this is a new leak and you just did the reg, follow the above advice (above posters). be sure the fuel rail seated all the way too.

How the hell can fuel get up near the TB and also in the MAF?

The injectors are so far downstream of those two things that it's almost impossible unless you get some serious backfiring under rich condition.


Here's a stupid question, but, do you have a fuel pressure gauge or are you hooking this up blind?

Ok..well i pulled everything so i have good access to the new regulator. I put a nipple on the vacuum line and primed the pump. When i came to take the nipple off ,gas shot out of the vacuum neck. So does that mean the regulator is bad? There is fuel all over the place, so I am going to wait for that to dry and then put the nipple on the vacuum line again and see if it is leaking from any other regultor spots? Would a improper seal cause the regualtor to shoot gas from the vacuum nipple..or is it just a bad regulator? Thanks.. also what should I do about all the gas that got into the upper intake...just let it dry?

So it couldn't be that the adjustment is off?? maybe I have it to high or to low..or should it just not do that at all?

Ok..well I went outside and everything was dry making any leaks apparent. Capped the nipple and then primed the pump. There WAS A LEAK by the back screw. My stock screws were a little to big for the regulator, so I must have thought I go it on there good, but didn't. When the leak stopped i took the cap of the nipple..and gas shot out again. NOW..is this because there is a leak around the regulator, or because the regulator is bad. Thanks!!!

If you have gas on the vacuum side of the regulator, it is shot! The diaphragm is ripped. Send it back and get a new one.
