If you have to have a functioning egr -- it'll be easier if you find a 96 or early 97 Explorer intake.

I'd probably point you to the Richard Holdner MM&FF test "Super Intake ShootoutSuper Intake Shootout - Damn the tachometer--full speed ahead!"

They tested intakes on a 347 with the following specs:
•Block - 2-bolt 5.0
•Crank - Cast 3.40-inch 347-Coast High Performance
•Rods - 5.40-in. Steel H-Beam- (CHP)
•Pistons - Forged 10.5:1 5.0 Probe (11.5:1 with milled heads)
•Cam - XE 292R (Comp Cams)
•Lift - .621 in, .627 ex (.016, .018 lash)
•Duration - 254 in, 260 ex
•Lobe Center - 110
•Heads - AFR 185 (CNC ported & milled)
•Valves - 2.02-in, 1.60-ex
•Rockers - Comp Cams 1.6 ratio roller
•Throttle Body - 70 mm Accufab MAF - 77mm ProM (36 lb. calibration)
•Computer - EEC IV plus Ford Racing Extender
•Injectors - 36 lbs.-hr.
•Ignition - MSDHeaders - 13/4-inch full length Hooker
•Water Pump - Electric CSI
•Timing - 34* Total

That is a much stouter combo than the one above and the GT40 hung in there and bested (average) every intake they threw at the test below ~5,500 rpm - even on the stroker with a XE 292 cam! It's hard to beat (not been done yet) the GT40/Cobra/Explorer for a street intake on a 302-347 ci engine below 6,000 rpm.

You want a high winding, high power combo - your gonna need more intake, unless you work with a custom cam grinder to work around the intake restriction to the extent possible.
