some of you gt guys that went cobra pumps for a supercharged application, i have a question.

for the kenne bell bap did you order the regular bap for supercharged cars?

cause i just went to order and i noticed they have ones that say all vehicles 20 and 40 amp for 250 bucks then under that i noticed cobra fuel ones for like 600 bucks!!!!!! what did you have to buy? is the regular ones for 250 ok? i was under the impression that was what i needed. what are the expensive cobra ones for? i dont need that cause im running the cobra pumps do i?

I believe that if you're running dual pumps you need the 40amp BAP..

yea cobra pumps use the 40 amp BAP ...

I dont think you really need the BAP if your doing Cobra Tank and pumps. Hell my friend was making 550 rwhp with his Cobra on stock setup and was no where close to maxing them. Plus if you do then all you need to do is buy two SVT Focus Pumps.

you will be MUCH cheaper to swap out the cobra pumps for twin GT pumps. i got a NEW pair of them for less than 150 shipped. they will put you past 600 rwhp

i wanted the gt pumps but i dont feel like dealing with the modifycations you have to do to them. it would save some cash though. cobra pumps+ bap=$$$$$$

maybe i could give it a shot, isnt it a pain though?

i didnt do any mods to get them to work.
they drop right in place of the cobra pumps.

wait...you didnt mod the ford gt pump??? you just dropped it in? i heard you have to drill some holes in the basket so it dont suck the basket dry at wot or something like that.

are you talking about using the cobra tank and pump setup or the GT tank? with the kind of power you plan to make it should be a no brainer to swap to the cobra tank/ pump assembly and upgrade the pumps to Ford GT's.

as far as the bap you just need a 40 amp and wire it like the 03-04 cobra instructions .

i am going to use the stock mustang gt tank for now. does the ford gt pump drop right into the this on did you mean if i bought the cobra tank?

Ford GT pumps flow LESS than the '03 Cobra pumps with a single FPDM. You need to add an additional FPDM or use a modified (MJ-Chip) FPDM to get the GT pumps to flow like they do on a Ford GT.

really? wow, that is suprising. i didnt know that. maybe ill just stick with the cobra pumps. how would i hook up an extra fpdm anyway? hard? where do i get them?

I think the easiest way would be to use this dual FPDM kit.. Probably not the cheapest though..

not according to numerous performance shops. the GT pumps will flow much more than the cobra pumps even with the stock FPDM. the modded FPDM is made to handle and dissapaite more heat so it doesnt go into thermal protection and shut your fuel system down. as i stated earlier, i know of at least 5 600+ RWHP carsin my area running my same setup. 2003 Cobra tank with twin GT pumps.

i didnt realize you were keeping the stock GT tank in. i would really look into a cobra tank or at a bare minimum a cobra hat with dual pumps.

use the search feature. it was on here or SVTPerformance

1 single Ford GT pump runs better than the 03/04 Dual Cobra pumps. Also less power than the Dual Focus pumps (and are almost 1/3 the price less)

ask Randy for the latest prices quote in Ford Factory Parts section.

Ford GT pumps use spade terminals instead of the connector. I've not messed with them, but someone said that since the Ford GT pumps are smaller, you can run duals in the stock basket (prolly need to mod it a bit). But if it's a N/A vehicle, you can get away with running a single GT pump.

yea, im not going to keep it long......just till i can get some cash up for an upgraded cobra one. i was going to get it in the beginning when i thought id would have enough cash, but my builder says he can put the cobra punp in the stock gt tank. he told me this last year, has been doing it for blower cars all along. he says he has had no problem at all with it.

also alot of these guys are track cars as he is located about 1 mile from atco raceway.

so i am going to to that route for the time being. i did talk to him today. i asked if he did the ford gt punp im a stock tank, he said yea he can do either way.

so i will figure out with him what way im going during the build.

I agree, lots of misinformation out there by supposedly shops 'in the know'. But the fact is the amperage rating of the pumps are different and the Ford GTs come with two FPDMs.

It would appear at 40psi dual cobra pumps will flow 128gph whereas a single GT pump will flow 115GPH or two GT pumps will flow 230GPH. So a pair of GT pumps will almost double the fuel flow of a pair of cobra pumps at 12.6V.

I think the only difference between the cobra and non-cobra tanks (GT, V6) is the baffling to keep the pump in fuel even when below 1/4 tank.. Necessary protection on a blown car.. Ford obviously recognized the issue, so make sure you always have more than a 1/4 tank!!
