GT, No Oil Pressure Until Warm

I drive a '00 GT 'Vert. (Auto)
I have noticed recently that I have no oil pressure when I start the car when it's cold. (Engine cold, not air temp)
After about 2 minutes, the oil pressure gauge goes to mid, then drops to zero, then mid, then zero,etc...
This happens until the engine reaches normal temp. As long as the engine stays warm, the oil pressure gauge seems to be working properly.
I have changed the oil, and it still does the same thing.
I would assume that it would be reading SOME oil pressure when you first start the engine.
Bad gauge?
I was thinking the voltage regulator, but it would affect all the gauges on the panel, not just the oil pressure gauge.
Any ideas?

well as long as your not hearing any knocking or taping from the engine i say its a safe bet you got pressure. sounds to me that you have a bad oil pressure sending unit.

Bad sending unit? Sounds like that is it! How difficult would it be to replace? Could I buy one myself and replace it? I don't hae to drop the oil pan or anything do I?

yea if you have basic mech skills you should have no problem. it should be located on the oil filter housing

Item 24 is the sender.

change the oil pressure sending unit.

Had the same problem on my 01 GT. Modular depot has a sticky about the issue.
