I have a 90 coupe with some minor mods. Looking to change heads, cam, upper and lower intake. I have been saving for a set of edelbrock or AFR heads with a performer upper and lower. No supercharger (yet) but a spray a 150 wet shot from NX. A local guy has a set of Y303 heads FS, NIB they still have the plastic on them. He wants $600. What do you think? I need opinions on these heads. Buy now, or wait until I have the $$ for something else. With the difference in $$ I could have some port work done lter if I needed.

I like mine.Port size is modest so low end torque is excellent.I had mine ported ($350) which increased flow a lot.The flow is dramatically better than stock but isn't that great right out of the box.No doubt the AFR165's (and others) are better but with the porting I had done my Y303's aren't that far off.Of course,a well matched overall combo is the key and for me every day driveability was important.I would guesstimate my rear wheel HP is around 275 (based on tmoss's dyno chart) but I have never dynoed it.I would probably be closer to 300Hp if I had gone with the AFR 165's ( and ported my cobra intake);about half of the difference is due to the fact AFR's are available with 58cc chambers so static compression is higher whereas the Y303's are 64cc.A price of $600 is good value.I paid $680.

its a good price... they used to be around 700 give or a take a few but I cant find any that aren't hovering around the 900 mark anymore. If i could get a set of those for 600 you better believe they would be bolted up on the car. I personally dont see the need for AFR's or other expensive heads in my case because the blower takes care of the lower airflow for me. If you are going N/A the gt-40 heads might not be worth it.

They're good heads. They flow about the same as a set of Thumpers and will be a good match to an Edelbrock Performer intake. The Y303s flow around 215cfm on the intake side.

I have them, got them from Diversified Marketing@buyfordmotorsport.com when they were still "take-offs" from crate engines. BTW, when I got them they were new, the only marks were slight scuff marks around the main bolt holes. They have provided a useful boost in my combo and dropped my time from 14.6->14.1, even with loss of static compression and aluminum. Also, the weight difference between them and stockers is HUGE,
