Even though I didn't have a perfect launch and spun through second quite a bit, I managed a 13.26 at 104.5mph. I am actually going again tomorrow and will try my hardest to get a 12.something at around 106. If I don't, then maybe I'll experiment with the timing a little. I hoping a dry track, iceing the intake, better launch and less 2nd gear spin will be worth a decent amount.
All I looking for is a 12.xx, because I think anything in the 12's will be impressive with stock injectors, MAF, rockers/pushrods, TB, shorties, no dyno tune or chip.
p.s. They gave me crap about no battery switch (still not getting one!) and they stopped me after the run and told me I needed a helmet.

believe me u want a dyno tune!!! it will make your car run better for sure and sure every car is different but i gained 16 hp and 11 tq at the wheels on a very mild tune...didnt even touch timing but i am sure if we had advanced it i woulda got even more...

wow man! greta to see another gt40p combo. After i got my dyno tune, my car ran 100% better with soo much more power in the midrange. Anyhow, my explorer intake is REALLY holding me back, and was wondering how did the ports look on that intake? i need a new one, my car only put down 270rwhp because of the damn thing
is this a difficult swap to put GT40P's on the 5.0? My brother has got a set and we were wanting to get rid of them since he couldn't use them on his 78. And I'm stillin contemplation of doing the swap on my 92 but not for sure just yet.

They're no harder to install than any other heads. I have never done anyhing this big before and I was able to do it all myself with phone calls to buddies who have done it before.

I went to the track on friday. It was really packed, so I had to wait about an hour between each run. Two of the runs I missed 3rd because of my stupid tranny, so that really pissed me off. I ended up with a 13.16 at 105.5mph. The track was not hooking for crap, so I know that I can still get a 12.xx if I can get some traction. I tried dumping the clutch and even slipping it from an idle and it spun every single time. I am still really unhappy with my nitto dr's.
Soooooooo, what tire set-up do you think I should get?? I can't decide. For the street, sometimes I want street tires for the fun of spinning through frist and second, but then again, sometimes I want it to hook on the street. For the track, I need more traction hands down. So I was thinking of either going with some Mickey Thompson dr's or bfg's for street and strip or getting some slicks for the track and trying to make my nitto's last the rest of the season. Any opinions??
I'm just keeping my factory tri-bars for the street and on the weekends when I dont have worry about rain or when I goto the strip 28x11.50 MT ET Streets on some prostars with some skinnies up front. Maybe I'll get some sportsmans later.
hahaha. I put my drag radials in the front and my khumos in the back today. It was so much more fun. I love going sideways in second. I think I am ditching my DR's and going with some 285 khumo's. They're so cheap too.

Yeah, my car has never hooked for some reason. I had a 1.92 60ft. with my 315 drag radials when I ran a 13.16. I have never gotten a 1.8x with them. They hook sweet on the street though. Hopefully my 285 kumhos will hook just as good at the track, b/c I should be able to get 1.9 from them and that is all I could get from 555R's.
Spinning on the street makes your car seem way faster, especially when taking someone for a ride.
