Cant find anything usefull on fordracing.com these days. This kit
comes without roller lifters, with 1.7" roller rockers.

First off, just curious if it will give significant gains on the low
end. Throttle response, torque, etc. Will the high lift be too much
for a smooth running street car?

Standard length pushrods?

Work with stock pistons for 89 GT ?

Thanks for any info.

It will work fine.
Should be an all around pretty good setup.

Consider having the heads valve jobbed, with a bowl cleanup, fords valve jobs are crap.
Should be worth a few horses too.

Does the kit come with pushrods?
Regardless, measuring the pushrod length isn't that time consuming, nor is the tool expensive.
Whoever installs it for you should measure.

gt40x install

Id be doing the install. Thats why Im asking. It will be my first, lone, EFI tear down. I put an edelbrock performer top end kit on my 69 351W and that presented its own challenges and setbacks as any project does. As a friend of mine says. One step forward, two steps back.

I know that all too well. I started out with a simple h/c/i swap, and landed up with all custom crap, and pretty much a new engine.

Here's a few items you will need as well.

New Water pump (reccommend while you got it apart)
65mm throttle body
24lb injectors
PMAS mass air meter calibrated for 24's
Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator
Rail mount fuel pressure gauge

That kit also probably comes with Ford head bolts, which are fine, but most of the time they are single use, so if you mess up, you will need new ones.
I'd use the right set of arp re-usable head bolts.

With the pushrods, you have to measure. Estimations will only land you up returning or exchanging parts.

valvetrain

Someone on another form said to look at the specs for this engine M-6007-XE3M* engine http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/it...egory=Engine+&+Fuel&subCategory=&CatKey=74-01

cause it uses these heads. It also comes with 1.6 roller rockers. But the top end kit were talking about here comes with 1.7 rockers. Dont know if that would apply to my application.?

I learned my lesson with pushrods on my 69. used the old ones with the edelbrock kit. Twisted em up like a pretzel and , i think, bent a valve. That was a fun summer. Funny thing was, I barely noticed it was running on 7 cylinders. Lots O power.

Shocktower,
You seem to be on the hunt for a set of pushrods that you know will fit before you get into the job. No matter how you slice it, if you don't measure you are at risk.
Buy the tool, it's $20.
The guy that does my work, has been at the top of the 5.0 game since it began.
He NEVER buys pushrods before the heads are on the car.
You bent a valve, so you should know how costly of a mistake this is.

more parts ?

After reading the description for the pushrod tool, I get it now.

Ive got my parts list together. Couple more newbie EFI questions.

Does the MAF sensor size need to be the same as the throttle body? On Summit I didnt see a 65mm MAF, just 75mm. But the recommended throttle body is 65mm. Does that matter?

Will the stock fuel rails be ok with the new 24lb injectors?

Thanks,

The maf should be bigger than the TB.
Use a PMAS meter with the 24 lb. calibration to match the injectors.
Do not use a C&L meter, or any that say 73mm, they are junk.

http://www.massairsystems.com/MASSAIRSENSORS.htm

The 75mm is the one most people use.
But call them and see if you can use the 85mm.
I have the 80mm, but it's not made anymore.
You can check ebay, the companies old name is PRO-M, that's what they are usually listed under on ebay.

Stock fuel rails support over 500 rear wheel HP, you will be at about 300rwhp, so there is plenty of room in them.
